Chuck, let's hear your story about your Vegas solo trip. I am thinking about making a solo trip later this month.

It was the the first NFL weekend of '03. I got up Saturday at 4 am and left Metro at 6 . I arrived in Vegas at 7 am local time. I checked in around 8 at the Aladdin and headed straight to the sportsbook at Balley's to get some bets down for the early games at 9 am. I then went back to the ESPN Zone to have lunch and watch the first half of the Michigan game. While there, I went to the men's room and discovered that there was a small TV in the wall above each urinal. I smiled real big, shook my head. and thought to myself..."Only in Vegas". At halftime I made my way back to Balley's and spent the entire day there with 300 or so of my best friends who I had never met before. It was awesome!!! Everytime any team scored, the place erupted. People were hugging and high fiveing perfect strangers. I had $20 on a 5 team parlay that paid 20 to 1. I had 4 teams in the barn and only needed Oklahoma to beat whoever they were playing by 5. They were up by 4 with less than a minute left. The other team had the ball deep in Sooner territory and it was 4th and long. I was pissed caused no matter what happend I was going to lose. Either the other team was going to score or Oklahoma would stop them and kneel down to run out the clock. The throw was to the goal line where it was intercepted by a Sooner DB and he began to run down the sideline. Half of the place leaped to their feet and was yelling GO! GO! GO!!! He took it back all the way and me and half the crowd began celebrating like we were all actually on the team. It was by far the best time I ever had watching football. I started talking to a couple of girls who worked at a race horse stable back in LA. They tought me how to play the ponies. We bet on and watched 5 races or so (3 of which I cashed). It was pretty cool. I went and had the buffet for dinner and headed out to the strip. I went to the Monte Carlo to get a ticket to see George Wallace. They had a single seat available in the front row! I laughed so hard I had to use my inhaler! When the show was over (about 10:30) I headed out to the strip. I walked along the strip stoping in a couple of casino's to play. I was playing craps in Harrah's at a $5 table. There was a big shooter at the end of the table with a girl on each arm. He had at least $500 out on various places on the table on every roll. It was my turn to shoot and I made 2 points in a row. After the second made point the dealer paid me on my $5 bet and then handed me an extra $25 chip. I said "what is this for?" He pointed to the guy at the end of the table and the guy smiled and said to me.."Just keep making your point." I think I made like 5 points in a row and he slid me a green chip after every one. By th time I left there it was like 1 am or so and I stopped in at the Frontier. The place was empty and I walked up to a $5 BJ table and began to play 1 on 1 against the dealer. I crushed him and cleared about $200. I asked the dealer what time it was and he said 2:30. (5:30 am Detroit time) I thought to myself.."Shit! I've been up for 25 and a half straight hours! I made my way back to my hotel. I dumped my winnings out on to the table and realized I was up over $1100. I set my alarm for 8 am cause I wanted to get a breakfast buffet in before 10 am (when the NFL games started). My head hit the pillow around 3:30. I woke up on my own at 7 am and thought to myself.."Well, I'm up so I might as well get going." I went to Luxor for the breakfast buffet (which I highly recomend, by the way). On the way back to Balley's I stopped in at Westward Ho and played som $1 craps. I struck up a conversation with one of the dealers who was from Trenton. (he noticed my Stanley Cup shirt) We talked about the new casino's back home and he said that he was trying to get a job at one of them so he could come home. I then went to Balley's to get my bets down and watch the NFL games. I spent the whole day there watching the games. The fatigue began to get the best of me and by dinner time I was BEAT! I had dinner at New York, New York and watched my Cowboys lose to the expansion Texans. I was barely able to stay awake till the end of the game (which ended at like 8:30). I went back to my room to take a nap before going back out on the town and ended up sleeping till 10 am Monday morning. I spent most of Monday seeing the sights and doing the "touristy" things. I put down a bet on the Monday night game as it started at 6 pm and my flight didn't leave till 11 pm. The game was a blowout in my favor but it went utill 9:15 an I couldn't collect till it was over. I was starting to sweat but I already had my bag packed and with me so I hopped in a cab and got to the airport at 10:30. I just made my flight and all in all it was, by far, the best weekend (next to my honeymoon) of my life. I got home at 5:30 am Tuesday morning and slept for 14 hours. I can only imagine how much more fun it would have been if I had been a poker player back then.

Sounds like an awesome trip, even without poker! My Vegas solo trip will have to wait. Something has come up with work so I have had to cancel my planned trip. Instead of Vegas I get to go to exciting Bentonville Arkansas! Only good news about that is there is an Indian casino about a 1/2 drive from Bentonville.
